A total of 93 Pakistani students have received Chevening and Commonwealth scholarships, as British High Commissioner Jane Marriott has encouraged Pakistani students seeking opportunities at UK universities to apply for these programs.
An official statement from the British High Commission in Islamabad revealed that this year marks the 65th anniversary of these initiatives, with 46 Chevening and 47 Commonwealth scholarships awarded to Pakistani applicants.
These long-standing programs have established a network of over 1,500 Commonwealth and nearly 2,000 Chevening graduates in Pakistan, who regularly convene to discuss current affairs. The statement highlighted that this year’s scholars come from a variety of backgrounds, representing the rich cultural diversity of Pakistan, with participants from Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan, Pakistan Administered Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Notably, over 60% of this year’s Chevening scholars are women. The British High Commission encourages individuals from all backgrounds across Pakistan to apply.
