Pakistan’s Asim Khan wins Squash On Fire Open in US

In an exciting all-Pakistan final of the Squash on Fire Open 2024 Wild Card Challenge in Washington, Asim Khan won the title by defeating Ashab Irfan 3-2.

Before reaching the final, Asim Khan, along with Abdul Malik Khan and Ashab Irfan, made it to the semi-finals of the Squash On Fire Open 2024 Wild Card Challenge in Washington. In the semifinal, Asim Khan beat his fellow countryman Abdul Malik with a score of 3-0.

Asim Khan, a 27-year-old squash player from Lahore, has an impressive record, winning seven titles in 13 tour final appearances throughout his relatively short career. He also won a silver medal in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou and a bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

In the thrilling final against Ashab Irfan, Asim Khan secured the victory with a 3-2 scoreline, earning him the title of the Squash On Fire Open 2024 Wild Card Challenge champion.

Currently ranked 66th in the professional squash world rankings, Asim Khan achieved his highest ranking of 53 in 2022. One of his notable achievements is winning the gold medal in the South Asian Games of 2019.

In July 2023, Asim Khan spoke out against the injustice faced by athletes in the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines department. He emphasized the importance of fair compensation and timely payment of salaries, highlighting that athletes should receive their dues promptly for their hard work and dedication. At that time, Asim Khan himself faced a delay of five months in receiving his payments while serving in the SNGPL department.
