Pakistani-origin British boxer Hamzah Sheeraz claimed the Middleweight European Boxing Championship after defeating British fighter Tyler Denny in a commanding performance at Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.
Sheeraz dominated the bout, knocking Denny down twice before the match was stopped by referee Mark Bates, resulting in a technical knockout.
The first knockdown came early in the opening round when Sheeraz landed a right cross followed by a left hook. In the second round, a powerful left hook floored Denny once again. Although Denny managed to get back on his feet, the referee called an end to the contest.
With this victory, the undefeated London-based boxer, now 21-0, not only claimed Denny’s European title but also secured the Commonwealth and WBC ‘Silver’ titles. Sheeraz, 25, continues to rise as one of the top contenders in the division.
