Aga Khan University (AKU) has secured approval as an official examination site for the MRCP (UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES).
This esteemed recognition, granted by the Royal Colleges of Physicians (RCP) in the UK, highlights AKU’s excellence in medical education and assessment across the region.
The accreditation process involved AKU’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME) hosting a ‘Pathfinder’ mock PACES exam.
This trial evaluated the center’s advanced simulation infrastructure, examiner proficiency, and operational efficiency. Conducted in partnership with AKU’s Medical College, the exercise confirmed that the university meets the stringent global standards for conducting such high-stakes exams.
“This is fantastic news for AKU and for aspiring medical professionals in Pakistan,” remarked Dr. Faisal Ismail, Regional Director of CIME, South Asia. “By hosting the MRCP (UK) PACES exam at CIME, we not only demonstrate our capability to conduct international-level assessments but also make it more convenient for local candidates to earn globally recognized qualifications.”
In addition, 14 faculty members from AKU’s Medical College have received certification as MRCP (UK) PACES examiners from the RCP in the UK, underscoring the exceptional standards of AKU’s faculty and enhancing the university’s capacity to deliver top-tier clinical examinations.
The first MRCP(UK) PACES exam at AKU-CIME is set to take place in August 2025, offering a cost-effective and easily accessible alternative for candidates from Pakistan and neighboring regions, sparing them the challenges of traveling abroad for the examination.
