Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) founder, Dr. Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi, has been honored with the 2024 Humanitarian Recognition Award. The Urology Care Foundation, an official foundation of the American Urological Association, bestowed this prestigious accolade upon Dr. Rizvi.
In a Facebook post, SIUT congratulated Dr. Rizvi on his achievement, highlighting his humility, compassion, and altruism, which are reflected in SIUT’s commitment to providing lifelong follow-up and free immunosuppressive medications.
The Humanitarian Recognition Award 2024 acknowledges an individual’s dedication to improving access to quality urologic healthcare in underserved populations. It honors those who exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through prior humanitarian endeavors.
Dr. Rizvi’s contributions to transplant surgery and humanitarian efforts have earned him several esteemed awards, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1998, the Hamdan Award for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services in 2004, the Shousha Prize by the World Health Organization in 2008, the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Sindh Association of North America in 2015, and the prestigious Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Medal of Distinction) in 2018.
Established in 1970, SIUT was founded by Dr. Rizvi to address healthcare challenges. In 2022 alone, the institute provided treatment to over 3.3 million patients.
