Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana etched her name into the record books with a remarkable all-round performance during Pakistan’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup clash against South Africa.
Despite Pakistan suffering a narrow two-wicket defeat, Fatima delivered a standout display with both bat and ball. Coming to the crease with Pakistan struggling at 50-8, she played a courageous unbeaten knock of 55 runs off 38 balls, including six fours and two sixes.

Fatima also shared a record partnership with Tuba Hassan and became the highest-scoring batter in Women’s T20 World Cup history while batting at No. 8 or lower.
She then made a major impact with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 16 runs and bringing Pakistan back into contention as South Africa chased the target. Her efforts, however, were not enough to prevent the Proteas from securing victory.

With her performance, Fatima became the first captain in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history to score a half-century and take three wickets in the same match.
Adding to a memorable period in her career, reports from cricket journalist Matt Roller revealed that the Pakistani captain has been signed by Birmingham Phoenix for the upcoming edition of The Hundred, further highlighting her growing reputation on the international stage.
