KARACHI: Karachi hosts the 12th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre from November 19 to 22 (Friday).
The event has become a global hub for defense manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and researchers, promoting collaboration and innovation within the defense and security sectors.
This year, over 350 high-level delegations from 55 countries, including the US, Russia, China, Turkiye, Iran, Italy, the UK, and Azerbaijan, are attending the four-day exhibition, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
The event features 560 defense manufacturers, 333 of which are international, showcasing a wide array of defense and military products. Turkiye and China are among the largest contributors to the showcase.
Pakistan is highlighting its domestically developed defense assets, including the Haider Main Battle Tank (MBT) and the Shahpar III medium-altitude long-endurance drone, alongside its Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar tanks and the latest Super Mushshak Aircraft model.
The Haider tank, unveiled in March, is a product of collaboration between Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) and Chinese state-owned company Norinco.
Moreover, Pakistan is debuting the Haadif Small Arms Simulator, an indigenous training system designed to enhance soldiers’ combat readiness and shooting accuracy.
The Haadif simulator supports training with various weapons, including the G3 rifle, light machine guns, submachine guns, and pistols. It enables practice against both stationary and moving targets, preparing soldiers for complex scenarios across diverse terrains such as mountains and deserts.
