A farmer in Karachi’s Malir district, Ghulam Hashim Noorani, has successfully cultivated the Miyazaki mango, the world’s most expensive mango, media reported on Sunday.

These mangoes, known for their vibrant purple color, exceptional sweetness, and high market value, were first grown in Miyazaki, Japan.

Ghulam Hashim Noorani imported its sapling from Japan six years ago. Since then, he has been cultivating the mango in Malir with notable success.

As per media report, Noorani has only one tree of the Miyazaki mango and it is the first and so far the only Miyazaki mango tree in Pakistan.

The tree bore fruit for the first time last year, and this year it has borne fruit again, which is now ready for sale.

The Miyazaki mango is priced between Rs 250,000 to Rs 300,000 per kilogram locally, and up to $800-$900 per kilogram in the international market.

What makes the Miyazaki mango extraordinary is its deep purple hue, luscious pulp, and unmatched taste. It is ultra-sweet, juicy, aromatic, and melts in the mouth like cream. Remarkably, the fruit is fiberless and has an exceptionally soft texture when sliced.
