Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has drawn intense criticism for her decision to provide McDonald’s burgers to school children during her recent visit to Murree. This move has sparked widespread boycott calls against the fast-food franchise due to its support for Israel during the Gaza war.

A video shared by Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan depicted students in a Murree school enjoying McDonald’s meals in their classroom. Additionally, a photo circulated by him showed the chief minister, who had spent several days in Murree, posing with a student.

Mushtaq Ahmad Khan asserted that offering McDonald’s burgers to students is deeply insensitive to the Muslim Ummah, likening it to pouring salt on their wounds.

He called for CM Maryam to apologize for her actions, emphasizing that the burgers were provided at a time when international campaigns are underway against global food chains supporting Israel.

In recent months, McDonald’s Pakistan has faced scrutiny after its Israeli counterpart announced plans to distribute thousands of free meals to the Israeli army amidst the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
