Murad Ali Soni, widely known simply as Murad Soni, has emerged as a key figure in Karachi’s efforts to enhance public safety and community welfare.
As the Chief of Community Policing Karachi (CPK), he leads a volunteer-driven initiative that partners with law enforcement to install advanced surveillance systems, including high-definition CCTV cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, across the city.
By late 2025, CPK had established command and control rooms in multiple police stations, such as Soldier Bazaar, Shahra-e-Noor Jahan, and Darakhshah, equipping them with hundreds of cameras for real-time monitoring.
These efforts aim to combat street crime, improve response times, and realize the vision of a “Safe City” Karachi through public-private collaboration.
In recognition of his contributions to social services and security, the Sindh government appointed Soni as a Justice of the Peace for District East in March 2024, with a two-year term.
This honorary role underscores his longstanding commitment to community activism. Beyond security, Soni has championed environmental causes under CPK’s “Green Karachi” campaign.
The initiative seeks to establish urban forests across the city, with recent plantings at locations like the Nazimabad Driving License Branch and the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA).
These projects promote sustainability and greener public spaces. In September 2025, Soni resumed active leadership at CPK headquarters after recovering from surgery.
Soni’s work has garnered praise from police officials, community leaders, and media outlets, with appearances in podcasts, interviews, and events emphasizing his vision for a secure, eco-friendly Karachi.
He remains distinct from Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, focusing instead on grassroots policing and civic initiatives rather than governmental executive roles.
Through tireless advocacy, technology integration, and environmental stewardship, Murad Ali Soni continues to play a pivotal role in transforming community safety in Pakistan’s largest city.
