In a bid to facilitate the passengers’ movement within terminals, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced plans to introduce an electric cart service at major airports.

In the initial phase, the service will be rolled out at airports in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Multan.

According to PAA, a tender has already been issued to procure the carts. The service will allow passengers to travel conveniently between parking areas and concourse halls, as well as back to the terminal from parking zones.

PAA Director Commercial Rabia Salmi said that users will be able to book the carts through a mobile application, emphasizing that the initiative will particularly benefit elderly travelers and those needing assistance.

The development follows a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on April 22, where officials discussed improving airport operations.

Measures approved included advanced screening systems, joint counters, and a single-point checking mechanism to reduce waiting times. Naqvi stressed that better coordination would help minimize congestion and streamline passenger flow.
