Pakistan advanced to the quarter-finals of the 3rd Asian Doubles Squash Championships after defeating India in the pool stage match held in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The Pakistani pair of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal registered a commanding 2-0 victory over India’s Rahul Baitha and Suraj Kumar Chand, winning 11-5, 11-9 in their final group-stage encounter.
The win ensured an unbeaten run for the duo in the pool stage and secured Pakistan’s qualification for the knockout round.
Pakistan fielded two strong pairs in the tournament, with Muhammad Hamza Khan and Muhammad Asim Khan also booking their place in the quarter-finals after defeating Hong Kong’s pair in straight games.
The result highlights Pakistan’s strong form in the competition, continuing its traditional rivalry with India in squash. The two sides had previously met in the final of the Asian Doubles Championship, where India claimed gold and Pakistan finished with silver.
All Pakistani players have now progressed to the quarter-finals, which are scheduled to be played today in Sarawak, Malaysia.
