A milestone in trade relations between Pakistan and East Africa was marked on Wednesday as the first consignment of Pakistani-made tractors arrived in Tanzania.
This achievement was driven by collaborative efforts from Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Secretary of Commerce Jawad Paul, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Zubair Motiwala, and TDAP Secretary Shehyar Taj.
Pakistan’s High Commission in Kenya, particularly in Nairobi, played a pivotal role in facilitating the import process.
High Commissioner Ibrar Hussain and Commercial Counsellor Adeela Younis worked closely with Masai Trekta Company Ltd, a Kenyan-Tanzanian firm, to bring the transaction to fruition. Masai Trekta, which recently launched its tractor distribution headquarters in Tanzania, has become a key partner in distributing Pakistani ATS tractors within Tanzania, with plans for potential expansion across the region.
The tractors, manufactured by Pak-Tractors House in Lahore, are expected to bolster Pakistan’s export footprint in East Africa, paving the way for further tractor exports to Tanzania and surrounding nations.
