The federal government has issued a special postage stamp with the theme “Resolve for Stability,” featuring Pakistani javelin star Arshad Nadeem, who made history by ending the country’s 32-year Olympic medal drought. This release coincides with Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day, celebrated on August 14.
The 27-year-old athlete set a new Olympic record with a javelin throw of 92.97 meters at the Paris Olympics, earning a gold medal and inspiring the younger generation.
Nadeem’s victory brought immense pride to the nation, marking Pakistan’s first individual gold medal in the event and the first gold medal in 40 years. Previously, Pakistan’s three gold medals all came from field hockey, with the national team winning in 1960, 1968, and 1984.
A government statement noted that the title “Resolve for Stability” on the postage stamp symbolizes the government’s unwavering commitment to the country’s progress and stability. The inclusion of the Minar-e-Pakistan image emphasizes the symbolic importance of Pakistan’s struggle for independence.
