Pakistan Railways earned a record Rs480 million ($1.7 million) from passenger trains during the three days of Eid holidays
According to official figures, the state-run railway operator generated Rs110 million on the first day of Eid, Rs170 million on the second day and more than Rs200 million on the third day, marking its highest-ever three-day Eid holiday revenue from passenger services.
Pakistan Railways also posted more than Rs1 billion in passenger train revenue over the past week, underscoring a broader surge in travel demand during one of the country’s busiest holiday periods.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi attributed the record earnings to effective policies and improved operational management.
He congratulated the railway administration on achieving the milestone.
“Improved passenger facilities and strong railway track infrastructure are the fundamental rights of passengers, and we are actively working on both fronts,” Abbasi said.
