Pakistan is set to host two back-to-back ITF W15,000 USD Women’s Futures tournaments in Islamabad later this year, the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) announced on Monday.
Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said that the two ITF W-15,000 Women’s Futures tournaments in October, will provided local female players with an opportunity to earn international ranking points and gain valuable exposure on home soil.
He said the initiative follows the successful hosting of ITF Men’s Futures events and aims to help Pakistan’s leading women players compete internationally without incurring significant travel expenses. The tournaments will also serve as preparation for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup.
Prominent players expected to benefit include Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zunaisha Noor, Zainab Ali Raja, Fatima Ali Raja, and Laibah Durab.
The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association, established in 2024, continues to promote women’s tennis nationwide. Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja described the events as a major step in strengthening Pakistan’s presence in international tennis, while PTF Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail termed the tournaments a significant achievement for local players.
