Pakistan’s unbeaten run at the Asian Youth Games came to an end on Wednesday night, as Iran put on a dominant performance in the volleyball final, winning all three sets to claim the gold medal, while Pakistan had to settle for silver.

Iran defeated Pakistan 25–21, 25–23, and 25–23, despite strong resistance from the Pakistani side in each set.

This marks Pakistan’s second medal at the ongoing Games; earlier, the boys’ kabaddi team secured a bronze medal last week.

In a statement, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) said that by winning the silver medal, the team had brought “immense pride and honor” to the nation.

“The team’s performance throughout the tournament was exceptional,” the PVF noted. “Pakistan remained unbeaten before the final, delivering outstanding victories over Mongolia, Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and China.”

According to the federation, “The final match was a true display of determination and courage. The Pakistani players fought hard in every set but narrowly missed out on gold. Remaining undefeated until the final is a historic achievement for Pakistan at the youth level.”
