Pakistani athletes showcased remarkable prowess at the Hero Open Malaysia International Taekwondo Championship, securing two gold and two silver medals among a field of more than 2,000 competitors from 20 countries.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, Muhammad Umar triumphed in the senior category, defeating a Chinese opponent to claim gold, while Syed Hamza Shah overcame challengers from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia to secure the second gold medal for Pakistan.

Shamil Ali Hussain delivered an impressive performance, winning three consecutive bouts before narrowly missing the championship title and settling for silver. Likewise, Hamad Nadeem advanced to the final and earned silver following a spirited contest.
The statement noted that this accomplishment not only brings honor to the nation but also strengthens Pakistan’s positive image on the international sporting stage.
Last month, Pakistan’s junior poomsae national taekwondo team delivered a stellar performance at the Daegu 2025 World University Taekwondo Festival in South Korea, securing four medals and earning global recognition.
