Pakistani Shahid Chaudhry appointed as Judge in Canada

In a moment of pride for Pakistan, Shahid Chaudhry has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by being appointed as a judge in the higher courts of Canada. This marks a historic achievement, as Chaudhry becomes the first Pakistani to secure a position in the esteemed Ontario Court of Justice.

Having assumed the role of Justice of Peace, Chaudhry’s journey to this distinguished position reflects a remarkable career spanning 25 years since he moved to Canada. Originally hailing from Burewala, Punjab, Chaudhry laid the foundation for his academic journey with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.

Justice Shahid Chaudhry further enhanced his qualifications by completing his post-graduation at the prestigious Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada. His commitment to excellence is evident in his diverse professional background, where he has actively contributed to various committees of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Beyond his legal expertise, Justice Chaudhry served as a consultant on Canadian Immigration and Citizenship laws in 2011, showcasing his multifaceted contributions to the Canadian legal landscape.

Adding to this proud moment, Justice Chaudhry’s family is equally involved in making positive impacts in Canada. His wife, Maliha Shahid, holds the position of deputy mayor in Whitby, a town in Canada. Together, their collective achievements underscore the enriching contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the Canadian judicial and political spheres.
