Three Pakistani students, Mirza Areeb Baig, Zarish Majid Shaikh, and Syeda Fakhra Jalal, proudly clinched 3rd place at the IEEE Region 10 Robotics Competition held in Tokyo, Japan.
The Biomedical Engineering students from Salim Habib University (SHU), located in Karachi, were recognized for their innovative Final Year Project, “Robotic Grasper with Integrated Haptic Feedback Mechanism.”
The award-winning project, designed to aid surgeons during operations, was guided by Prof. Dr. M. Zeeshan ul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at SHU, and co-supervised by Engr. Muhammad Aamir, Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering.
The students attributed their success to the strong support from SHU, which not only facilitated the development of their project but also fully funded their participation in the competition.
The IEEE Region 10 Robotics Competition featured participants from ten countries, including four teams from India. The Pakistani team’s achievement highlights their innovative approach and the global recognition of their engineering skills.
