A team of Pakistani middle school students secured first place in the Social Innovation category at the Teknofest Aerospace and Technology Festival, held on Saturday in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

According to an announcement by Pak-Turk Maarif International Schools and Colleges on Instagram, students Asma Fatima and Inaya Khan, accompanied by their teacher Gohar Khursheed, received their award from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Teknofest 2025 ceremony.

The team earned top honors for their project titled “Emotion Detector Gadget for Quadriplegic,” which was recognized in the Social Innovation competition for middle school participants.

As per the official Teknofest website, the awards were presented to winners selected from among 268 finalist teams and 1,083 individual competitors representing six countries. These finalists were chosen from a pool of more than 47,000 applicants across 22 nations.

Teknofest is Türkiye’s first and only aerospace and technology festival, organized in collaboration with numerous national institutions and organizations.

Last year, a team of Pakistani students won three bronze medals at the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held in Isfahan, Iran, from July 21 to 28.
