Pakistani professional wrestler Ather Zahid successfully retained his international championship title by defeating Indian contender Samrat Virender at the Global Wrestling Grand Event, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, during the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

Following his victory, the 29-year-old athlete described the win as a gift to the nation.

“Although I spent Eid away from my home and family, I dedicate this triumph to the 250 million people of Pakistan,” Zahid stated.

Born in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, to Pakistani parents, Zahid has rapidly emerged as a prominent figure in South Asian wrestling.

He first claimed the international championship in October 2024, also in Kathmandu, after defeating Indian wrestler Singham Dubey.
