The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been entertaining fans for the past decade, and a recent analysis by BBC Sport has ranked it as the world’s second most exciting franchise cricket league.
The report examined global T20 leagues using factors such as average sixes per match, dot ball percentage, home ground advantage, bowling styles, and matches decided in the final over or ball. PSL secured second place overall, just behind the IPL, which led in close finishes.
In terms of final-over matches, the IPL recorded 28.9 percent, PSL followed with 27.5 percent, and The Hundred came third at 24.4 percent.

For first innings scores, PSL topped the chart with an average of 180, slightly ahead of the IPL at 179. When it came to boundaries, the IPL again ranked first, PSL second, and ILT20 third. Interestingly, most spin wickets came from the Caribbean Premier League, while fast bowlers thrived most in Australia.
The report also assessed the average number of international caps per match, with ILT20 leading at 423, while PSL and IPL each averaged 351. Higher overseas player allowances and better pay in ILT20 were cited as key factors.
In BBC Sport’s “Entertainment Index,” scored out of five across five performance metrics, the IPL ranked first, PSL second, ILT20 third, and the Big Bash League last, signaling that PSL remains one of the world’s most thrilling cricket leagues.
