With the holy month of Ramazan approaching, the Punjab government has once again set up special Ramazan (Sahulat) Bazaars across major cities to provide essential food items at subsidized rates and ensure convenience for the public.
The initiative, originally introduced during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and recently expanded under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to reduce the financial burden on middle- and lower-income households during the fasting month.
Subsidized Prices
At several bazaars set up in Lahore and other districts, fruits, vegetables, and daily household items are being sold at significantly reduced prices. According to market officials, recent rates included.

- Onions: Rs 60 per kg
- Tomatoes: Rs 80 per kg
- Potatoes: Rs 19 per kg
Authorities say the prices are regularly monitored and adjusted to remain lower than open market rates.
Improved Facilities
Unlike traditional temporary markets, the newly arranged Ramazan Bazaars feature upgraded infrastructure designed to improve the shopping experience.

Covered sheds protecting citizens from heat and weather
- Clean, paved walking areas
- Availability of shopping trolleys
- Seating benches for families
- Dedicated seating and service areas for senior citizens
- Clean and maintained washroom facilities
In some locations, elderly visitors can place orders while seated and have items delivered to them within the premises.
