The Sindh government has launched an electric vehicle (EV) bus service in Gulshan-e-Maymar.
According to details, 12 buses will provide transport from Gulshan-e-Maymar to Tower. The EV buses will travel via Sohrab Goth, Water Pump, Teen Hatti and M. A. Jinnah Road before reaching Tower.
Provincial Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated the EV buses in Gulshan-e-Maymar. Addressing the ceremony, he said the government was fulfilling its promises to the public with the support of the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
He said the party is working continuously to provide relief to citizens. Referring to the current situation, he stated that the country is facing a state of conflict and that Pakistan’s forces are engaged in fighting against the Taliban regime.
He added that no country has the capacity to cast an aggressive eye towards Pakistan, and credited Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with making the country a nuclear power.
The minister further said Pakistan’s defence is strong and credited the country’s leadership for it, adding that those who once left the country are now reconsidering, viewing Pakistan as a secure place.
He also noted that development work in Karachi is ongoing, including projects related to solid waste management, water supply and infrastructure.
He said Sindh offers quality healthcare facilities and announced that Shahrah-e-Bhutto will be opened on 30 April. He added that Shahrah-e-Faisal was also developed during Bhutto’s era.
He said the EV bus service will greatly benefit residents of Gulshan-e-Maymar, adding that governments elected by public vote are committed to serving the people.
He also criticised road conditions under the federal government, while claiming that provincial roads are in better condition.
The minister further alleged that EV buses were held at the port by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), stating that an 18 per cent tax was imposed on them, compared to one per cent for others.
