Pakistani squash player Muhammad Asim Khan triumphed at the Charlottesville Open in Virginia, securing a 3-1 victory over England’s Nick Wall in the final.
This win marks Khan’s first Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour title. His impressive journey through the tournament started with a win over Brazil’s Diego Gobbi in the opening round, followed by an upset against second seed Yahya Elnawasany in the quarterfinals.
He then defeated fifth seed Cesar Salazar in the semifinals, earning a place in the final against Wall.
In the championship match, Khan claimed the title with a 3-1 scoreline, winning 12-14, 12-10, 11-5, and 11-6.
“I didn’t expect any of this,” Khan shared after the match. “I’ve been playing squash for the past four or five years and have faced many struggles, without winning matches in big tournaments like this.”
