Students from Turbat University in Balochistan, have developed an innovative mobile application named “Shanakht” for the district’s police department.
The app is designed to provide the police with immediate and detailed information about suspects involved in criminal activities or fugitives. “Shanakht” is seen as a valuable tool in aiding law enforcement to bring offenders to justice.
The application, developed as a crime prevention tool, took four months to complete and has now been officially handed over to the District Kech Police. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Kech commended the students for their hard work and awarded them certificates in recognition of their ingenuity and dedication.
Earlier in 2022, Sindh police launched the “Talash” app to combat rising street crimes in Karachi. Developed with modern technology, the “Talash” app, introduced by Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, has been praised as an effective tool against crime. It integrates data from NADRA and contains records of 1.5 million criminals in the province.
