The federal government has approved 7,600 new recruitments in the Islamabad Police.
According to media reports, the matter had been under consideration for some time and was formally referred to the federal authorities for approval.
The government has now granted the go-ahead, paving the way for the large-scale induction.
Inspector General of Police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, confirmed the development while speaking to journalists at an iftar dinner.
He stated that the Ministry of Finance has authorised the recruitment drive for the federal police force.
