A fresh survey has revealed strong public opinion in Pakistan regarding the ceasefire between Iran and the United States, highlighting widespread support for Pakistan’s diplomatic role.
According to the latest survey by Gallup Pakistan, Pakistani citizens are largely united in favour of the ceasefire.
The government’s efforts to facilitate peace have received overwhelming backing, with 93% supporting the initiative, while 80% expressed hope that Iran-US negotiations could lead to lasting peace.
The survey, conducted on 8 and 9 April 2026, found that a significant majority of respondents not only supported Pakistan’s role in mediating the international conflict but were also optimistic about its positive outcomes. The findings were released ahead of key diplomatic negotiations.
According to the report, 82% of Pakistanis said they were aware of the government’s efforts towards achieving a ceasefire. Of these, 46% said they were well-informed, while only 14% reported being unaware.
The survey further revealed that 93% supported Pakistan’s mediation role, including 72% who expressed strong support, with only a very small percentage opposing it.
Additionally, 88% of respondents believed Pakistan should play an active mediating role in global conflicts, while 5% preferred neutrality and 3% favoured supporting one side.
Moreover, 80% expressed hope that the ceasefire could pave the way for lasting peace, with 44% being highly optimistic about such an outcome.
The survey was conducted on a representative sample of around 1,000 adults using random digit dialling for telephone interviews, with a margin of error between 2% and 3%.
