Pakistan has introduced its first locally developed, advanced Flat Panel Digital Radiography (FDR) X-ray machine, designed and assembled entirely by Pakistani engineers using domestic resources.

The unveiling took place at the 22nd Health Asia International Exhibition in Karachi, marking a significant milestone in the country’s medical technology sector.

The mobile, fully digital system, developed by Rays Medical World, is not only technologically advanced but also cost-effective.

Priced at around Rs4 million, it is substantially cheaper than imported models, which can cost up to Rs15 million. The machine can be operated via a mobile phone, enhancing its flexibility and ease of use in hospitals.

Rays Medical World, which has previously produced basic X-ray machines for Pakistani hospitals, is now expanding its capabilities to provide high-end radiography solutions. The new FDR system is already being deployed in some hospitals, with plans for future exports.

This development is expected to make advanced medical imaging more accessible and affordable in Pakistan, providing a major boost to the country’s healthcare infrastructure and reducing reliance on expensive imported equipment.
