Pakistan and China have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for cooperation on three projects, including making seawater usable for Karachi.
The MoU signing ceremony was held in Changsha, a city in China’s Hunan province. Asif Ali Zardari attended the event. Agreements were signed for cooperation in seawater desalination, agricultural technology, and the tea sector.
The first MoU was signed between the Sindh Local Government Department and Locean Environmental Technology Group. The agreement focuses on cooperation for a seawater desalination project to increase water supply to the city of Karachi.
Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon and Yu Hui, Party Branch Secretary and Chairman of Locean Environmental Technology Group, signed the agreement.
The second agreement was signed between the Sindh Local Government Department and Longping High-Tech Information Company for cooperation in agricultural technology. The MoU was signed by Sharjeel Inam Memon and Chen Zhixin, Chairman of the Chinese company.
The third MoU relates to the tea sector. It was signed between Musk and Femti Trading Company, Hunan Tea Group, and Jialong International Technology (Hainan).
On behalf of Pakistan, Saleem Mandviwalla signed the MoU.
Zhou Chongwang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Hunan Tea Group, and Hao Jialong, Chairman of Hainan Jialong International Trade Technology, signed on behalf of the Chinese side.
The aim of the agreements is to promote cooperation across various industrial sectors, support the development of the tea industry, and strengthen economic, trade, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
