New Pink Bus routes announced for Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has announced the launching of two additional routes for the Pink People’s Bus Service in Karachi on April 19.

Currently, the Pink Bus Service operates along the R1 route, connecting Model Colony Malir to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Memon presided over a meeting to assess the preparations for the introduction of new transportation initiatives in Karachi and Mirpurkhas. It was decided during the meeting to inaugurate two new routes for the Pink Bus Service in Karachi on April 19.

One of the new routes, designated R10 and exclusive for women, will traverse from Numaish Chowrangi through M.A Jinnah Road, Zaibunissa Street, Metropol, Do Talwar, Teen Talwar, Mazar e Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Dolman Mall, and conclude at Sea View clock tower.

Moreover, the meeting resolved to introduce the People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas on April 20.

Memon further disclosed plans for the launch of a cashless automated fare collection smart card service on April 25, aimed at providing convenience to commuters.

Earlier announcements by the minister on March 18 outlined the expansion of Pink Bus Service routes and the introduction of the People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas following Eidul Fitr.

It should be noted that on February 1, the Sindh government initiated the country’s first-ever Pink People’s Bus Service in Karachi, exclusively catering to women passengers.
